"What a true gift it was to work with Andrea! While working with her I realized for the first time it was okay to start from where I am and that life habits are not in sprint form but are more like a journey. I was and still am a work in progress, I do not consider myself to have arrived but what I learned from my sessions with Andrea were life changing.
When I first expressed interest in working with her I thought I would wait until the festive summer season was over but she convinced me there is no reason to wait as life doesn’t wait - let’s just start from where you are right now.
I was nervous not knowing what I got myself into but in our first session she gave me just three things to focus on and that was easy. I could do three things! I began with a food journal that also included how I felt after I ate. She encouraged me to take a step back from weighing myself multiple times a day and to be present while I am eating.
The next session, Andrea made me realize that prior to retiring I was up early each day and had a sense of routine and that I needed that again. So I started setting the alarm and starting my day! I also learned to put everything on a plate- I had no problem eating out of a bag but quickly realized I had no idea what I consumed when I did this. The next step was cutting off my eating after dinner.
In the sessions that followed she taught me the weed, feed and seed strategy. I began to substitute some of the processed foods for more gut healthy options. I have made many of the recipes she has shared on Instagram and loved every one! She also helped me make a realistic meal plan. I struggled with my summer routine of coming home from the beach on a Monday AM and not having time or food accessible for dinner so we would eat fast food. But with her help I changed this and had an easy meal that's healthy and tasty instead of fast food Monday.
During this journey I realized I built habits, sustainable habits that impact my physical and mental health. I check labels more often and am back to working out on a regular basis. I feel like Andrea has gotten me off the roller coaster and made it clear to me that longevity matters. I tend to carry the weight (literally and figuratively) of everyone's problems and now have strategies and solutions that are healthier. I feel much more empowered and stronger. Andrea also taught me tools and when one tool didn’t work she was quick to show me another way.
So am I exactly where I want to be? No! But I am still on the journey and a work in progress and am so much better off than I was six months ago!

"If you’re hesitant to message “atgetwell”, like I was, don’t be…JUST DO IT!
I’m 59 years old. Five months ago, I was 58, long past menopause, a lifelong runner, and a generally fit active person. I had accepted the menopause belly and upsized my pants. I had habits I loved that I knew wouldn’t fit any wellness routine, and I was trying to settle into “aging gracefully”. Yet, coming off a summer of decadence, I felt blah, and was noticing a lack of energy in my workouts, as well as a much MORE changed physique. On a summer run with a friend, we passed Andrea along the way, and I proceeded to tell my friend all about my thoughts and my hesitation, and she suggested, “Just call and ask if she’s willing to work with you on some of your terms, you’re the customer, just ask!” And so, I did.

Andrea’s reply to my ask was immediate and says so much about her, and why I am now, five months later, singing her praises and writing a testimonial. Her reply as follows: “I live by the 80/20 rule…. 80% of the time I’m doing what I need to do and 20% of the time I’m enjoying things that may not be the best but aren’t breaking me. No one can and should feel restricted- never works! Would love to chat.”

Fast forward five months and five 50 minute sessions, each session followed by a detailed wrap up email in my inbox for safe keeping and referring back to when I need reminding (I made a 3-ring binder of each printed email, along with copy/paste/print “Monday Mood” recipes and other tips Andrea gives away for free on Instagram), notes, texts of encouragement, answers to every ask along the way (such as “I’m at Trader Joe’s, can you please send me a list of your favorite TJ’s items?”), and just general overall caring and a sense of humor that you feel from Andrea every step of the way, and I’m her biggest fan!

The things I said were non-negotiable… turns out they weren’t. Turns out that when you are fueling your body with the delicious, yummy, and plentiful foods that Andrea teaches you all about, you truly do stop craving the crap! If you had told me five months ago that I wouldn’t crave sugar or potato chips, Ritz crackers or Jif crunchy peanut butter, well, I would have never believed it. But it’s true! Yes, I still enjoy a 5’oclock adult beverage, but again, much less often than I used to. My fabulously fueled body feels so good, that it has a mind of its own, and often the 70 ounces of water a day is more desirable than a beer!

And my workouts. What a difference! I was absolutely addicted to a hydration pack full of a sugary drink mix, but now, I start my day with food that fuels me throughout my entire workout, and the water alone is enough for hours of trail running and hiking through the mountains of midcoast Maine.
​
Lastly, I will mention a couple of other things. During the holiday season, I neglected some of my new healthy habits. I backslid a bit, and I enjoyed it! But then, I didn’t. And I very quickly got back on track, because my body WANTED a big ol’ bowl full of greens, cottage cheese, sauerkraut, olives, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, seeds, and nuts. And a final final note. Working with Andrea won’t just benefit you, if you have a house full of others like I do, it will benefit them as well. Your refrigerator will have good healthy fats, fiber, and proteins. Your pantry will be full of quick and easy and great fueling snacks. You will work to adjust the first few weeks, but once you have felt the benefits and altered the old habits, you won’t even want that box of Ritz crackers in the house anymore!
